The Tantramar Marshes, dubbed "the world's windiest meadow" by the Acadians, were one of North America's largest salt marshes. Today, a major bird refuge (Wetland of International Importance).
Sackville hosts Mount Allison University (one of Canada's top liberal arts universities) and the Owens Art Gallery. Waterfowl Park in the town centre offers 14 km of marsh trails with 200+ bird species. Fort Beauséjour (1751), on the NB–NS border, recounts the Acadian Deportation.
