The Itinerary

Leaving Fundy National Park, the Shepody Bay coast offers a trio of experiences unique to Atlantic Canada: zip-line over the ocean, viewing of 2 million migrating shorebirds, and walking the seabed at low tide.

Alma, a tiny fishing village (240 inhabitants) at the park entrance, is famous for its fish chowder and Kelly's Bake Shop (legendary sticky buns since 1937). From there, Route 915 follows the wild coast to Cape Enrage: 1840 heritage lighthouse, panoramic restaurant and New Brunswick's only zip-line flying over cliffs above 14 m tides. Guaranteed adrenaline.

20 minutes further, the Mary's Point sanctuary (Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network site) hosts from late July to mid-August the world's densest concentration of migrating semipalmated sandpipers: 2 million birds taking off simultaneously in swirling clouds before retreating tides — the "Bird Shoulder" phenomenon. Hopewell Rocks, 15 minutes away, rounds out the trip.
